The Amazon Renewed Shark CarpetXpert EX201 Upright Carpet is a two-in-one carpet cleaner for rooms and stains, best for pet owners dealing with regular accidents. The main drawback: full-size upright at 18.05 pounds and 43.5 inches tall takes up storage space. We scored it 4.4 out of 5.
Shark's CarpetXpert folds a deep carpet cleaner and a handheld stain tool into one upright, so you can do whole rooms and stairs or sofas without a second machine. The trade-off is bulk: at just over 18 pounds and 43.5 inches tall, it is a full-size machine to store and haul upstairs, and this is a renewed unit.
NoFussDeal rates the Amazon Renewed Shark CarpetXpert EX201 Upright Carpet 4.4 out of 5 at $189.99. Last updated October 12, 2026.
A built-in handheld spot and stain tool extends from the machine to clean stairs, upholstery and isolated stains. Its StainStriker system mixes two cleaning chemicals as they are sprayed, activating an oxygen-based cleaner on contact.
A high-speed brushroll, PowerSpray high-pressure spray and powerful suction work together to lift dirt and grime from deep in the carpet pile.
A dry-only mode runs suction without spraying, so you can pull more water out of the carpet and speed up drying without over-soaking it.
The cleaning system is designed to remove odors, including pet urine and smoke, rather than simply masking them.
Check the machine, tanks, handheld tool and cord for damage or missing parts before first use.
Vacuum the carpet thoroughly so the cleaner deals with stains and embedded grime rather than loose debris.
Fill the clean-water tank and add Shark cleaning solution according to the instructions supplied with the machine.
Use the built-in StainStriker tool on stubborn spots, stairs or upholstery before, or instead of, a full-room pass.
Push forward while spraying, then pull back slowly to extract; overlap your passes.
Switch to dry-only mode and make extra suction passes to remove as much water as possible, then empty and rinse the dirty-water tank.
For most buyers, yes: we score it 4.4 out of 5. The brushroll, high-pressure spray and suction target deep dirt, a dry-only mode limits over-wetting, and the system is designed to tackle pet urine and smoke odors.
Full-size upright at 18.05 pounds and 43.5 inches tall takes up storage space. Carrying it between floors is a chore.
Empty and rinse the dirty-water tank after every session. Clean hair and fibers from the brushroll regularly.
Spray the StainStriker tool on older urine spots and let it work before extracting, then follow with a full pass of the area.
